UNPACKING the delivery box and seeing her first ever published book as a final product was an unbelievable moment for young Hervey Bay author Hannah Walker.
“I was just so overwhelmed to see the book – the real thing,” said Hannah.
“It’s something I am so proud of.”
Hannah’s debut children’s book ‘Dear Mum, I Love You’ is already proving a popular choice among Fraser Coast readers.
The beautifully illustrated book is all about telling our mums how special they are.
“There’s been great demand for the book and many people have said it’s going to make an awesome Christmas present,” said Hannah.
Whether the book is a special present for mum or child, it’s the quality time, reading together that’s sure to be the real gift.
There’s space in the book for you to place a photo of you and your mum and to write your own unique dedication to her.
‘Dear Mum, I Love You’ stems from a final year school English project.
The former St James Lutheran College student said she was encouraged by her teacher to publish the book.
Graduating in 2019, Hannah said getting the book ready for publication was a real learning experience.
“It took a lot of time and effort to get it all together.
“There’re so many different aspects to publishing.”

The book is illustrated by Fraser Coast artist Tinneale Fairey.
“It was really important for me to have as much of the book as possible produced by local talent,” explained Hannah.
The 20-year-old said creating the story was something she really enjoyed doing and it quickly became a project she had to see through.
A series of books on other special family members is also on the cards.
Even though Hannah has future plans for her writing and creating a series of books, she finds the smaller, boutique nature of publishing the most appealing.
“I’d love to get ‘Dear Mum, I Love You’ into the local libraries and schools,” she said.
No stranger to the Fraser Coast market scene, copies can be bought from the XO HANNAH stall at the Urangan Pier Markets.
They’re also available online – just follow this link or head over to Author Hannah Walker on Facebook and Instagram.
Not one to miss out on an opportunity and to explore her creativity, Hannah also owns the XO HANNAH earrings brand.
