Although open to the general public, anyone who has – or may be in the future – touched by organ and tissue donation is encouraged to attend.
The service is a heartfelt event which draws emotions from two very special groups of people.
On one hand, families of those who have passed away and donated organs or tissue will be remembering their loved ones and their generosity, which gave others a second chance at life.

On the other hand, recipients and their friends and family will be present celebrating their lives and honouring those who gave them the ultimate gift.

Anyone over the age of 16 can register to donate their organs.
It’s important to talk to your family about your decision so they know and understand your wishes.
The Australian Government’s Organ and Tissue Authority said on its website that this will help them make the decision should the need arise.

Government says Australia is internationally recognised for its successful organ transplants, with the majority of recipients going on to lead “full and active lives.”
One person donating their organs means up to seven people can come off the waitlist.
The DonateLife Service of Remembrance allows people to thank donors and their families for “making the decision to say yes.”
