LOCAL businesses specialising in pet products, experiences and services are being encouraged to book a stall at the Fraser Coast’s upcoming ‘A Dog’s Day Out’.

The event has been planned as an educational and fun day out for the whole family at Seafront Oval in Pialba on Sunday, 16 October 2022.

‘A Dog’s Day Out’ will feature a mini market, agility demonstrations and pet care talks.
Local businesses offering pet products or pet experiences that are interested in being part of the event can contact the Fraser Coast Regional Council on 1300 79 49 29 or by Emailing enquiry@frasercoast.qld.gov.au.
Pet owners will also be able ensure their dog registrations are paid and up-to-date.

Mayor George Seymour said pet ownership comes with responsibility.
“It is compulsory for dogs to be registered with Council from twelve weeks of age and within 14 days of owners moving to the Fraser Coast region, while dogs also need to be desexed before 22 weeks of age,” Cr Seymour said.
“This new event – ‘A Dog’s Day Out – is designed to be both an educational event and a fun day out for the whole family. We encourage anyone with a dog to come along to check out the products available to pamper their pooches, learn about responsible pet care and to ensure their registration is up to date.”

Festivities also coincide with the annual dog registration renewal period.
Renewals are issued in late September and are due for payment by 31 October.
“As part of ‘A Dog’s Day Out’ on Seafront Oval, Council will have Customer Service staff available for pet owners to renew their registration and pay their fees via a debit or credit card, or to register their animal for the first time,” the mayor said.

“It’s important to remember that Council offers free first-time dog registration.
“Ensuring your dog is registered and microchipped helps reduce the number of animals that end up at the pound and makes it easier for Council to reunite lost pets with their owners.”

Registration fees contribute to the cost of Council’s animal management operations – including compliance inspections, dog attack investigations, the running of animal pounds and the adoption centre, fenced off-leash areas and responsible pet care programs.
