“Heavy rainfall is expected to be concentrated around a surface trough which is forecast to develop over the Wide Bay and Burnett district early Friday morning and move slowly southwards during the afternoon and evening.”

Locally intense rainfall could also lead “dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding.”

Minor flooding along the Mary River upstream of Gympie has already occurred and continued rainfall in the catchment could see river levels continue to rise.
