Excitement mounting in Hervey Bay ahead of superboat racing

FRASER Coast locals keen to see the superboats that will be racing off Torquay Beach at the weekend a little closer will be able to catch a street parade on Saturday afternoon.

All competitors taking part in the Offshore Superboat Series will participate in the parade along the Charlton Esplanade from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Organised by the Australian Offshore Powerboat Club, the event is the 11th consecutive year the series has visited Hervey Bay.

Competitors will race along a course in front of Torquay Beach.

Meanwhile, Fraser Coast Division 7 Councillor Darren Everard said recently region was growing as a sporting destination of choice.

Cr Everard said the superboat races would add to the Fraser Coast’s already lively and varied calendar of events.
