EXCITEMENT is growing ahead of the first installment of the River Heads Markets.

The region’s freshest market will be held at the River Heads Community Hall in Ariadne Street.

Festivities kick-off at 8am and run until 12-noon.

The markets will be held every second Sunday of the month thereafter.

Organisers say the event will help showcase the talents of the community’s local artists, musicians and crafters.

Equally important, organisers believe the markets will help grow community spirit among River Heads locals and residents of surrounding suburbs.

Money raised will help fund the River Heads Progress Association, which provides services and facilities to the community.

One of the volunteers organising the River Heads Markets, Suzanne Taylor said the new event would be a win-win for the community.

She said the markets have been billed as ‘Supporting Creative Locals.’

“There has been great excitement among stall holders,” said Suzanne.

“Many have been asking to book in advance – before the first market has even been staged.”

Adding to the excitement, the area’s local Tourist Radio will broadcast live from the markets and be conducting live crossings throughout the morning.

Suzanne said live music was one of the attractions that set the River Heads Markets apart from others in the region.

The River Heads Markets are being staged by an all-women team of volunteers.
