The Fraser Coast Regional Council says the playground at the ESA Park on the Esplanade in Point Vernon is in need of some TLC due to its popularity and proximity to the ocean.

Division 6 Councillor David Lewis said the ESA Park playground was often used for family gatherings and children’s parties as parents and grandparents can relax as their children play.

“ESA Park is named after ESA Foundation which is dedicated to the promotion of continuing education and to altruistic activities that make a positive difference in the world community,” Cr Lewis said.

“Due to the popularity of the playground and its exposure to the ocean, the equipment now requires an upgrade.

“As part of the upgrade some of the play equipment will be removed and replaced with something new.”

The equipment that is in good condition that will remain includes the shade structures, climbing net and navigator twirler.

The park also includes barbeque facilities, a toilet block and easy access to the beach and tidal rock pools.
