AS the curtain comes down on the schooling careers of Year 12 students across the Fraser Coast, one local graduate is ready to make a name for herself as a performing artist in the big city.

Ayisha Walker will trade the studios of the Hervey Bay Performing Arts College in Pialba for Village Nation in Sydney.
Village Nation is a leading performing arts school that focuses on helping students make it as professionals in the industry.

The 17-year-old will study towards a Certificate 4 qualification in dance.
“I’ve had such a great time at the Hervey Bay Performing Arts College and I am really proud of what I have achieved here,” said Ayisha.
“I’m excited to move on from high school but the time I’ve spent here has been a special experience.”

Ayisha attended the college in Thomas Street for five years.
“I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today and about to start training in Sydney if it wasn’t for the college.
“Every day I have been able to do what I love with the people I love. I will leave the college with so many amazing memories,” she said.
Ayisha will focus on dance, acting and singing next year.
“As long as I am performing, I will go where the opportunities take me,” she said.

Despite being the only Year 12 student at the Hervey Bay Performing Arts College this year, Ayisha is preparing for the traditional school send-off later this week.
The college is throwing her a formal on Sunday, followed by a graduation the following Friday.
Director Jonathon Heeley said seeing Ayisha wrap up her time at the college was a bitter sweet moment.

“It’s sad to see her go, as she has trained here for five years, but it’s great knowing she is leaving to do what she really wants to,” he said.
“She is an absolutely phenomenal performer.”
