Popular convenience store heading to Maryborough

MARYBOROUGH is set to receive its first 7-Eleven convenience store as the company continues its push into regional Queensland.

The chain said a new store would open at 341 Alice Street in Maryborough next year.

Gympie is also expected to receive its first 7-Eleven during mid to late 2022.

7-Eleven said its investment in Queensland would help create jobs and offer consumers more choice as to where they spend their hard-earned Dollars.

The Maryborough store is expected to create up to 10 ongoing jobs and multiple other work opportunities during the construction phase.

The Maryborough and Gympie stores are in addition to the company’s investment of approximately $15-million already committed to Far North Queensland.

7-Eleven Retail Area Lead North, Alan Plews, said the investment in new stores in the state in the past 18 months reflects the company’s commitment to Queensland.

“We’ve opened 14 stores in Queensland in the past 18 months, creating approximately 140 jobs and will continue to invest in our network over the next 12 months and beyond, including our first stores in Maryborough and Gympie,” Mr Plews said.

“Our ongoing investment in growing our network to serve metropolitan and regional Queenslanders means there are strong career prospects for people in our team as our network expands.

“We will be encouraging Maryborough and Gympie locals to apply to join our retail team in 2022.”

Experience in petrol and convenience is not a must have to be considered for a career at the family-owned Australian retailer. Training and development will be provided.

Store leaders are among the crucial jobs identified for recruitment.

Locals interested in leadership roles at the Maryborough and Gympie stores are being encouraged to Email pexstoreleader@7eleven.com.au to set up a meeting.

The recruitment of team members is expected to start roughly three months before the store opens.
