Z-PAC theatre brings classic to life

HERVEY Bay’s local theatre enthusiasts are busy preparing for their latest production – and you don’t want to miss out on this one.

Z-PAC Theatre will present ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ over the course of three weeks, starting on 17 September.

Director Judith La Forest said the performance would appeal to anyone who loves good theatre and are intrigued to compare it to the iconic movie featuring Jack Nicholson as McMurphy and Louise Fletcher and Nurse Ratched.

The 1974 psychological comedy-drama is considered by many critics as one of the greatest films ever made.

Based on the 1962 novel of the same name, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, won five Oscars and multiple other awards.

Set in a mental institution, the production explores the clash between the lead character, Randle McMurphy (played by Tim Holstein) and Nurse Mildred Ratched (played by Theresa Saunders).

Ms La Forest said the production would also help raise awareness around issues like mental health, drugs and other societal problems.

  • Tickets: $27.50 adults, $22 concession, $16.50 students.

Z-PAC Theatre is run by volunteers and produces a number of shows every year using local actors, directors, and technical and support staff.
