THE Fraser Coast’s reputation as a top tourist destination continues to grow after a local caravan park received a second international recognition from online travel company TripAdvisor.
The Torquay Beachfront Tourist Park recently earned a fresh TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
Bruce and Varee Ginn, who manage the caravan park, also took home the award in 2019.
The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award recognises the top 10 per cent of accommodation providers and is drawn from the experiences of millions of international worldwide.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said it was a pleasure to work with the team at BelgraviaPRO, the company that manages all four of the Council’s beachfront caravan parks.
The venue in Torquay has consistently received an average four or five-star rating on TripAdvisor.
“Caravanning and camping are hugely popular and an extremely important part of our regional tourism industry and economy. Receiving these awards will attract more visitors to the park and to the Fraser Coast,” Cr Seymour said.
The mayor said Council-owned caravan parks would attract even more positive ratings and reviews once a $17-million remap was completed.
“Council has adopted Master Plans to guide the redevelopment of the four Council-owned beachfront caravan parks at Burrum Heads, Pialba, Scarness and Torquay,” he said.
“The master plans were developed in consultation with holidaymakers so we could understand their needs and aspirations.
“Funding for the project has been included in Council’s long term Capital Program with the works to occur over the next five years, starting with Scarness where work is already underway.”
