Cianna was determined to return to the netball court after an accident that resulted in her being airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital on life support.

Cianna spent 48 days in hospital due to her injuries.

However, her love for netball shone through.

Cianna used shooting as her method of rehabilitation. She began shooting from a wheelchair to standing to running and jumping.

Once discharged, her goal was to get back on the court as quickly as she could.

She returned to the courts on May 2 and played with her Breakaways team.

However, this was not her only goal.

Before the accident, Cianna earned a selection to represent the Hervey Bay representative squad.

She worked every day on various areas, including shooting, physio, walking and gym work, to prove she could still play at a high level.

Achieving her goal, Cianna attended and played at the Bundaberg Carnival on the 15-16th of May.

Cianna thanked the Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Hervey Bay RSL for the award.

“I enjoy netball because I am part of a team, and I make plenty of friends through the sport,” she said.

Mayor George Seymour was pleased to present Cianna with her award.

“It is great to be meeting athletes again, and Cianna is an amazing netball player.  It is great to see Cianna and others achieving great things,” he said.

The Hervey Bay RSL representative Sarah Bailey-Wilkinson is proud of the Hervey Bay RSL’s commitment to the community.

“We will always contribute. As long as our members support us, we will support our community,” she said.
