A TOWN without a bookshop is an unhappy town.

That was the sentiment shared by QBD Books CEO Nicholas Croydon at the retailer’s official opening of its newest store.
QBD Books opened its biggest regional store in Australia at Stockland Hervey Bay this morning.
The store is the 80th across Australia.

“There were so many smiling faces here today, people were lining up outside 30 minutes before the opening. They’re happy the book store is here,” Mr Croydon explained.
He said Hervey Bay was the perfect location for the brand’s biggest regional store because “it has a good demographic.”

Mr Croydon said people love reading and the store will cater for everyone’s needs.
“We have latest releases, bargain books all the way to high-end books and kids’ puzzles.”

He said Hervey Bay was a big enough town to warrant the investment from a business perspective and added that there was a good demand for books in the region.

“Without this store, people would either have to go to Brisbane or order online,” Mr Croydon said.
