HISTORY will be made this weekend when cyclists take to the streets for the inaugural Fraser Coast Gran Fondo.

Hundreds of riders will take part in either the 130km Gran Fondo or 87km Medio on Saturday.

Festivities get underway at the Seafront Oval in Pialba on Friday where the Gran Fondo Village will be set up.
People taking part in the races can register online until Friday night.

You can also register in person on Friday afternoon (closes 6pm) or on Saturday morning before the event (opens 5.30am).
Both races start and finish at Seafront Oval.
According to the Fraser Coast Gran Fondo website, Charlton Esplanade will be closed to traffic between Seafront Oval and Elizabeth Street, Urangan from 6.20am to approximately 7.30am.

Organisers say no other full road closures will be implemented along the two routes, but motorists can expect speed reduction measures and traffic to be affected.

The races are expected to be completed by 1pm.
