THE Fraser Coast could be inline to get a taste of new sporting code that’s growing at a rapid rate across the world.

The Fraser Coast Regional Council shared a photo and caption on Facebook yesterday suggesting the area could be getting a disk golf course.

A Council Sport and Recreation Officer and a disk golf course designer inspected the Tinana Recreation Reserve as a possible site.
Disk golf is played in more than 40 countries across the world – including here in Australia and is described as being a low-cost sport that’s suitable for all ages.

The concept is similar to normal golf but instead of hitting a ball into a hole, players throw a frisbee towards a target – usually a metal / chain basket.
Council urged communities to keep an eye out for updates regarding when the sport would be available locally.

The Facebook post was well received by a number of users who said they would support the initiative and take their children to play once the course was up and running.
