People wanting to nominate candidates in the different categories have until March 7 to do so.

Mayor George Seymour urged people to list the names of those who have done a great job, whether as a player, coach, volunteer or committee member.

“Sport is an important part of life. It is not just the competition [or] the action on the field or court. Sport also includes the behind-the-scenes action – the training, the organising, the volunteers,” Cr Seymour said.

“Through these awards we can recognise the efforts of everyone involved,” he continued.
